Come what may in Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s life, music has always been a constant, a healing salve, and the second album since his career reinvigorated in the 2020s is no better example. Laughter In Summer not only blossoms with emotional splendour, but is dedicated to and made in close companionship with his partner in life and music Elizabeth. His expressively vibrating vocals, huskier after decades of singing, are met with feathery, lush choral harmonies while heartfully duetting with Elizabeth, whose years of their shared theatre work come through boldly as they twirl around the piano on the centrepiece ‘Harbour’.
