Stills Lit Through is the debut release from Cayman Johnson on Daniel Lopatin’s Software label. Johnson, also a visual artist, has created a soundscape that draws on both the surroundings of his native Hudson Valley and his past work. His visual art background is particularly apparent on tracks like ‘Glenticast’ and ‘Emmel’: the layers of ambient melodies reminiscent of the delicate brushstrokes of watercolour paintings. Equally, this is an album that owes much to the slow-building compositions of Autechre and Brian Eno.
