On the occasion of Björk’s mid-career retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, her long-time label home One Little Indian continue their back catalogue reissue series with her 1997 album Homogenic. Each vinyl is issued in a limited coloured edition according to the album’s character – Homogenic comes in “icelandic/cosmopolitan contrast green patriotic warrior confrontational volcanic beats icelandic octet active”. Recorded in Malaga after the traumatic incident of her stalker Ricardo Lopez committing suicide, it marked not only the first of her many collaborations with producer Mark Bell (LFO), but also the development of a more experimental compositional approach. A clear focus on her home country Iceland with all of its powerful nature, the electronic rhythms are the beating base frame, coloured by the strings performed by the Icelandic String Octet.
