Sony repressing this classic back to vinyl for the first time in a while with this new Death In Vegas reissue. The vaunted group feel particularly ripe for reappraisal in this era of rock and rave hybridism as their patented blend of club-ready rhythm and stadium-sized melodicism feels ever prescient in the current state of the under and overground. The second and final release in this series is Death In Vegas’ 2002 LP Scorpio Rising. Named after the Kenneth Anger film (and complete with cover art referencing his iconic rainbow art style), Scorpio Rising saw Death In Vegas further refining their punky rock/dance mashups into a crystalline, almost cinematic sound that naturally lent itself to a lot of film and television syncs. The gloriously blurry shoegaze number ‘Girls’ made a splash in Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation, but it's the Liam Gallagher assisted title track that truly stands among the group’s finest offerings.
