Morphine Record’s first album of 2014 comes from Iran-based producer Ata Ebtekar. Ebtekar released his debut on Warp back in the 90s and has gone to produce records for Digitalis, Sub Rosa and more under the name Sote. In the past he’s primarily experimented with drum & bass and IDM. Architectonic, however, is informed by Ebtekar’s academic work with sound art. The album has been created using a vast array of audio technologies, resulting in techno and noise structured by complex polyrhythms and trance-inducing synth loops.
