Techno producer J-T Kyrke from the British Midlands returns to Applied Rhythmic Technology (Art) with the Horizon EP. Although resuming his uncompromising straight-forward sound, he delivers three bangers that are more playful than previous releases. By bulking up on the amount of synthesizers, he adds some harmony to his otherwise stripped-down production style. The suppressed melody of ‘Horizon’ eventually overpowers its fast 4-to-the-floor beat. ‘Dink’ is based around condensed strumming in the higher frequency ranges. ‘Clones’ motif doesn’t seem to know where it’s going, which gives rise to an almost hymnal peak, grounded by the deep, looping bass melody.
