Lee Gamble returns to PAN two years after his double whammy of releases (2012’s Dutch Tvashar Plumes and Diversions 1994-1996) with a decidedly epic long-player, Koch. A study in the more hallucinatory aspects of dancefloor-leaning music, it lands somewhere between ambient mood music and heady techno, taking the best aspects of both and somehow creating a work that’s even greater than the sum of its already wondrous parts. From the coiled spring that is ‘Voxel City Spirals’ to the nervous pulse of ‘Jove Layup..’ by way of the deep and abstract ‘Frame Drag’, it’s a record that is both beautiful and profound.
