As part of The Kinks’ 50 birthday reissue campaign, Sanctuary treat us with their third album The Kink Kontroversy in its most comprehensive form to date. Originally released in 1965, the compact 30-minute album was the first on which lead singer and guitarist Ray Davis appeared with compositional efforts such as ‘Ring The Bell’, ‘The World Keeps Going Round’ and ‘I’m on an Island’: with their mellow melodies, they mark his earlier, more introspective and softer songwriting style. This reissue version features a remastered edition of the original album and an array of demos, outtakes, alternate versions and BBC sessions.
