Moscow-based producer Alexey Devyanin returns to Montreal’s Infinite Machines with a vertiginous EP under his Pixelord moniker. Label mates Seafloor and Druid Cloak make appearances as remixers alongside fellow local producer Thomas White and New York’s Curl Up. On Polygon Fane, erratic rhythms shake hands with serious bass lines and chopped-up vocal samples. The title track’s synths nod to R’n’B influences, while ‘Tumblr Girl’ draws references to dubstep with its gentle breakbeat and processed vocals snippets. It’s the consistency of the bass that holds this eclectic adventure together though.
