Birmingham DJ and producer Tom Shorterz makes his Rinse debut with a pair of old-school house treats. Shorterz skips the overzealous theatrics generally associated with first singles, opting instead for low-key, floor-tested tools. ‘Mainline’ features a simple yet hypnotic bass line, head nod-inducing drums and sci-fi synths that briefly flourish two thirds of the way through before locking back into the uncompromising groove. Flip-side ‘The Grid’, produced alongside Lorenzo as Paranoid Resistance, is a punchier number fuelled by bouncy drum work and clipped vocal samples.
