Brighton-based multiinstrumentalist Alex Banks drops the second single from his debut on Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records, Imminent. 'A Matter of Time' is a nocturnal electronica ballad with shoving synths and trotting rhythms: carried by scenic string carpets, the minor key melodies reach dizzying heights, with Elizabeth Bernholz's pristine vocals contrasting the deep pounding instrumentals. Frank Wiedemann takes on remix duties and tranforms the melancholy into an acid dancefloor atmosphere, using a stripped down set up and a straightforward techno beat.
