Minimal Wave compiles some early works from Sandra Electronics, the lo-fi side project of Karl O’Connor aka Regis. Sessions is made up of live bits, outtakes and early recordings dating back as far as the late 80’s, and offers a unique look at O’Connor’s path from industrial and post-punk worshipping teen to highly influential, genre-bending producer. His growth (and movement from punk to more typically electronic song structures) is most evident when listening to multiple versions of the scummy, Sex Pistols-influenced ‘Her Needs’ and the dark, rumbling ‘A Man Has Responsibilities’. Regis fans will eat up big, brooding stompers like ‘As Above, So Below’ and a German/English version of ‘Here and Now’.
