Super reissue on Trax from three decades back! Sadly Jesse Velez, the pioneering Latin house producer from Chicago, took his own life before he would see the success of this release, the seven-track Super Rhythm Trax. 'Girls On The Floor' features basic rapping over exhilarating drum machine hits and guitar licks. 'Do It To The Beat' is a riot of percussion, a relentless flurry of beats as influenced by up-tempo Latin soul as acid house. 'We Don't Need No Music' follows a similar percussive pattern at a slower tempo - juddering toms replacing synth pads while the track's title words are chanted throughout. A wonderful way to remember and celebrate a lost talent, this is essential.
