After developing a strong following from a trilogy of underground mix tapes, anonymous LA duo 18+ land on Fabric’s label arm Houndstooth with the Crow / Horn EP. The duo’s unique sound sits somewhere between nonchalant R&B and distilled, moody hip-hop production; as seen on opening cut ‘Crow’ which finds its simple rhythm through a cawing crow and effortless finger snaps with the duo’s dynamic vocal pairing giving the piece an extra layer of attitude. Following cut ‘Horn’ conceals its rhythm, focusing instead on a harrowing, elongated horn sample with sparse snares and the duo’s intermittent vocals adding to the isolated feel.
