Life and Death kick off their Parachute sub label with a stunning Clockwork remix EP. Chosen from the B.O.A.T.S. album released on the mother imprint, ‘First Floor’ and ‘Second Floor’ get a proper warehouse techno make-over by German producer Answer Code Request and Montreal monolith Deadbeat. Answer Code Request manages to maintain a hint of the original’s restful ambience on ‘First Floor’, wrapping the synth carpets into a fiddly beat with a dark twist. Deadbeat re-loops the staccato chords and adds not only a few BPM, but also percussive elements, enriching the rhythmic body of ‘Second Floor’. Both remixes wonderfully bridge the introspective aesthetic of Life and Death with a rougher, more dance floor friendly sound.
