Hailing from Lyon, this noise four-piece practice mostly in extensive improvisational drone compositions. With ambient textures being built across the 7 tracks, any sense of tranquility will get rattled by uneasy undercurrents of spare piano motifs or distorted cello surges. Cerebral yet totally emotive, Above Us is the sound of music without a map. From the purring bass of Symbols, to the skull-pattering crescendo of the titular closer, it’s a record of Alpine landscapes where the erosion and decay takes place beneath your feet.
