Aisha Devi, formerly Kate Wax, continues to tear it up with another killer short set for the exciting Danse Noire label. At the centre of her latest EP is ‘Hakkan Dub’, a sinister sonic structure built from relentlessly pounding industrial drums, gorgeous gothic vocals and ghostly electronics. The 9+ minutes ‘Throat Dub (Tool)’ is another stunner, its layered Gregorian chants building to a tense, drawn out climax. IVVVO reinterprets ‘Hakkan Dub’, twisting it into a dark, throbbing house cut, and Hieroglyphic Being dices the sacred sounds of ‘Throat Dub’ until they are practically unrecognisable on his splashy, almost psychedelic rework.
