MinimalRome head Heinrich Dressel dives deep into Roman mythology on his first EP for Rotterdam’s Frustrated Funk. Inspired by the stories of Romulus and Remus, believed to be the founders of Rome, Dressel constructs a sonic interpretation of their mythical power. ‘Dazzling Tiber’ paints a floating image with its arpeggios of mallets and streaming strings, referencing the very river on which the brother’s fate was to be sealed. The title track plays with echo effects and a palatable series of harmonies. By signing with Frustrated Funk, Dressel has managed to produce his most atmospheric release to date.
