Scottish producer Red Rack’em has moved to Berlin and his new EP for the local Telefonplan bears witness to that. The hard-hitting beat of the title track stomps forward on a wobbly deep synth line – its down-pitched vocals adding an unsettling quality. ‘Make Up Your Mind’ continues that feel: Red Rack’em setting dissonant chords under a dub coating and processing his vocal samples with plenty of reverb and delay. The true surprise though is the glitchy hip hop rhythm of ‘Jan 11 Hip Hop’, the sharp-edged synths and drums linking it with its surrounding techno experiments.
