Machine Girl make their debut on the Future Classic label with a new LP entitled Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X). Now a trio, Machine Girl brings a fuller, but no less schizoid attack to their seventh LP, traversing digital hardcore, classicist rave, and wild noise with both feverish energy and exacting ambition. Snarling, internet-fluent angst has always been Machine Girl’s calling card alongside their rollercoaster breakbeats (and there is plenty of that here), but it’s the more muscular moments like the Black Flag-meets-evil carnival would-be title track ‘Psychowar’ that excitingly point to where this band is headed next.
