Ostgut Ton compiles the soundtrack to an eponymous dance performance which saw Berghain collaborate with the renowned state ensemble Staatsballett Berlin. Three producers provided the sound for three different choreographers: DIN, Dettmann / Wiedemann and Henrik Schwarz were commissioned to create pieces, which are here re-produced. Henrik Schwarz’s ‘Balletsuite #1’ provided the brilliant finish to the show: with strings, guitar and piano melodies, the producer explores new territories far beyond his usual techno sound. DIN dive deep into their Berghain techno aesthetc with 4/4 beats, but create a subtle, haunting atmosphere with environmental sounds. Masse Box also includes the three remix EPs, bringing the performance back to the context where it originated.
