Established Canadian minimal techno producer Marc Houle readies his sixth studio LP Cola Party for his own co-owed imprint Items & Things. Building on the stripped, minimal funk of 2012’s well-received LP Undercover, Houle constructs grooves from the starkest of elements. Similar to the notorious ‘Techno Vocals’ piece, ‘S.T.E.A.K’ utilises deadpan, pitched down vocals paired against jacking drums for a piece of nonchalant dance floor fodder whereas the releases’ title cut is a bleeping workout of precise hi-hats and bubbling bass funk with added dark energy.
