Former Can bassist and soundscapes creator Holger Czukay reissues a selection of tracks from his albums Der Osten Ist Rot (released in 1984) and Rome Remains Rome (released in 1987) on Groenland Records. Featuring contributions from fellow Can member Jaki Liebezeit, producer Conny Plank and Jah Wobble, it's a thrilling collection. Many of the tracks are built from tape loops, with plenty of nods to early sampling technology and the depth and space of dub. A very special release that shows the influence of Can extends beyond the albums they recorded as a group and into the solo work of the band's individual members.
