Kevin Mcphee has already had a strong pair of releases on Idle Hands, now he lands on another respected UK imprint Hypercolour with the Boris EP. ‘Cc-Xxx-Yy-Nnnnn’ leads off with a bold bounce, seesawing between a scratching synth pattern and repeating vocal; Marcus Intalex’s chases with his warm, melodic remix operating as his Trevino alias. On the B-side Mcphee crafts yet another swinging bass layer on ‘Branch’ which is topped by some fragmented percussion and an off beat horn sample whilst ‘Dd-Yyy-Zz-Ooooo’ plunges us right back into the basement with a rock steady slab of big room techno laced with reverb.
