Desire Records debuts the Brussels-based industrial-experimental duo Orphan Swords with the Risk In A New Age EP, featuring a collaboration with New York post-punk group Ike Yard. Milling between a range of styles, the duo cross pollinate hazed, coldwave noise with subtle licks of industrial rhythm. Opening piece ‘Haagenti’ is the most nihilistic of the four, bundling fuzzy drones to deadpan vocals whilst ‘Leraikha’ projects shifting chords onto a bleak dystopian shuffle, whereas the operatic chants on ‘Orobas’ add a harrowing feel to the rhythmic synchronizations.
