Hot Chip take stock of a long and storied history with their first-ever greatest hits LP titled Joy In Repetition. While not typically the sort of move dance acts gravitate towards, Hot Chip always had a bit of stadium rock ambition in their electronic symphonies and of love and loss and nights out on the dancefloor, as well as a preternatural ability to craft sticky hooks from the nerdiest gearhead depths so it comes as no surprise that Joy In Repetition plays less like a grab bag and more like their platonic ideal offering. The customary new track ‘Devotion’ is no slouch either, a crispy slice of indie dance that recalls Orange Juice in its nervy, yet infectious energy.
