Sound of Sheffield, Vol. 2 sees South Yorkshire veterans The Black Dog delivering another release of fine techno. This is part two of a four-part digital only series that celebrates Sheffield’s impact on British dance music. Including a throbbing live version of ‘Bardwells Distaster’ recorded at Berlin’s Berghain Panorama Bar, the EP recreates the highs of the best club music. ‘Feral Electronics’ is driven by a restless synth motif, its percussion elements building persistently over time. ‘Bardwells Distaster’ relies on its patient simplicity, and only introduces its synth tones halfway into the song.
