Karl O’Connor delivers four more slabs of smouldering, black techno under his Regis moniker. Opener ‘Fragment 1’ is a blitz of bruising drum work and mind-numbing bass that is gradually undercut by a rather moving keyboard melody. ‘Fragment 2’ maintains the same breakneck tempo, employing riotous rave synths, while ‘Fragment 3’ is broken-down acid house as only Regis is capable of pulling off. The dub techno pulsations of ‘Fragment 4’ serve as a perfect palate-cleanser, and combined with the preceding tracks, prove that O’Connor is as adaptable as ever.
