Consisting of Ilpo Väisänen and Dirk Dresselhaus, abstract experimentalist duo Angel joins up with the excellent Austrian imprint Editions Mego for their fourth release on the imprint entitled Terra Null. As with previous releases the pair embarks on a journey, merging acoustic and electronic elements and distilling them down to their purest form. Opening piece ‘Naked Land’ begins with its considered strings before moving on to the deep lull of ‘Monolake’. ‘Colonialists’ demonstrates an entanglement of piercing microtonal noise whilst final piece ‘Quake’ unleashes an onslaught of deep, reductionist drones.
