Animal Collective reassemble for a new 7” out on Domino entitled Love On the Big Screen/Buddies On the Blackboard. Produced in part by AnCo principal member Avey Tare, the A side’s ‘Love On the Big Screen’ comes as advertised: a widescreen psych-pop banger that reaches for the cheap seats without betraying the group’s singularly oddball charm. The flip’s ‘Buddies On the Blackboard’ absorbs some energy from Panda Bear’s recent dubbier excursions alongside Sonic Boom with its cavernous low end swirling reverb trailing all over the sonic field.
