Wah Wah Supersonic Sounds Records rescues another obscure krautrock piece with the reissue of Code III’s 1974 cult-classic Planet Of Man. Consisting of Berlin sound engineer and Manfred Schunke and two American hippies living in the German capital Ed and Mary Key, Code III’s haunting opener ‘Formations / The Genesis’ sound fuses hallucinatory Timothy Leary-styled musings to whirling CTI-esque chamber ambience to then blossom into a gorgeous, naturalistic folk piece – a real trip for sure. ‘Countdown / Phoenix Rising’ is remembered for its distinct Indian opening and heavy, drugged drumming by none other than Klaus Schulze.
