San Francisco-based DJ and producer Matrixxmann makes his debut on Spectral Sound with the excellent Amulet EP following the greatly received XX Files releases. Here, the producer explores a broad palette of ‘floor friendly styles, beginning with the retro, Chicago-referencing ‘Venetian Mask’ with its summer soaked groove and the bass-heavy jack of ‘Scimitar’. The airy ‘Enter Me’ flaunts an infectious xylophone riff that’ll stick with you for weeks whilst ‘The Caravan’ shows off another side, plunging us down to the darkest depths with a driving pulse and eerie, lingering synth dashes.
