Previously known for his work as part of black metal group Altar of Plagues, James Kelly lands on the ever-impressive Tri Angle Records with solo project WIFE and debut album ‘What’s Between’. Transitioning away from black metal, Kelly’s WIFE guise forges droned guitars and melancholic vocals with stark electronics. ‘Heart Is A Far Light’ is a textured mix of dark and light, with overlapping choir-like chants and desolate guitar chords all grounded to a muted thud. Additional production duties come via fellow Tri Angle artist The Haxan Cloak and ambient specialist Roly Porter.
