Ever-reliable UK techno veteran James Ruskin is back on his own imprint Blueprint with the Nan Nife EP, building on the more experimental direction as seen on his impressive Slit EP. The a-side title cut revolves around a broken, stepping beat with tinny hi-hats and vast chord strokes adding to the dark atmosphere whilst ‘Shallow Pool’ treads a similar path but with an added layer of deep, lonely guitar picks. Final cut ‘Dependant Stage’ takes a more direct approach, utilising a reliable 4/4 drive and a menacing synth riff for extra character.
