Techno expert Inigo Kennedy adds to his mammoth catalogue with this similarly imposing double album for Belgian label Token, his first in four years. As exciting and varied as the music-hall revue style after which he's named the album, Vaudeville offers a host of thrills. 'Plaintive' offers catharsis on the dance-floor, as swirling 3/4 rhythms go against a solid kick pattern under muted organs that bristle with emotion. 'Lullaby' takes virtuosic synth patterns and buries them in hiss to beautiful effect. Closer 'NGC5128', which takes its name from a galaxy with a supermassive black hole at its centre, offers steady rhythms amidst fearful, ominous chords and melodies.
