The latest release on Actress's Werkdiscs comes from the mysterious Moiré, who follows 2013's Never Sleep with a release as densely composed as the pattern from which he's taken his name. 'BBOY 02' throws down mechanical grooves under wobbling acid riffs and a repeated male utterance that's chopped and manipulated from start to finish. 'False' is on a jackin' tip, channelling classic house and techno styles into 21st-Century hedonism. Pummelling bass hits and relentless hi-hats meet gently drawn strings and flurrying claps. 'Window' shows us another side to the producer entirely, as Laurie Spiegel-esque undulations hint at Moiré's comfort in an entirely different milieu. Essential listening that's sure to set dance-floors alight and open minds at after parties in equal measure.
