Stones Throw Records release a hefty soundtrack for Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton, the 2014 feature-length theatrical documentary about the California imprint. Collected here are several of the label’s defining tracks, from heavies like Dilla and Quasimoto to newer signees and lesser knowns like Homeboy Sandman, Jonti and The Stepkids. Also included are some rather soulful original music cues from the film by Stones Throw’s most prolific musical polymath, Madlib. As far as primers go, for this already legendary label, this is pretty much unbeatable.
