Veteran New York DJ Ulysses returns with his first release in three years, turning up on fledgling label The Bunker New York. It's a good fit for the artist, who last released on fellow New York label Throne of Blood. A snapshot of a basement full of unreleased gems, these three tracks span hard-edged electro and droning techno. The title track, with its space-aged meandering and droning hums, screams set opener, as plucked guitars lend a bizarrely organic gravitas to this robotic serenade. 'Throne of Bubbles' has no such romance, a straight-up floor-filler that churns out mechanical function over a pneumatic bass-line. 'Nanook' keeps things just as interesting, a study in Krautrock tropes that reaches for the soul. Good till the very last drop.
