Beneath is a fitting appellation for UK producer Ben Walker, whose previous releases have been essential underground listening. Released on the envelope-pushing Pan imprint, Vobes is a subterranean-sounding EP that would perfectly soundtrack smoke-filled basement parties at 4am. Released on vinyl and digital format, at a glance the EP smacks of dubstep minimalism, but on closer inspection more complex arrangements rear their head. Looking under the bonnet, shades of Shackleton and wrong-footing electronic beats become apparent.
