After reissuing Henk Badings’s crucial The Woman of Andros LP, archival imprint Kontinental unearths another essential early electronic album from Dutch experimentalist Tom Dissevelt. For fans of recently re-established sound pioneers like Daphne Oram, Suzanne Ciani and film composer Edward Artemiev, Fantasy In Orbit is a major find. Like the aforementioned musicians, Dissevelt uses his analogue synthesizers and an array of instruments to create eerie soundscapes that are as ominous as they are exotic. Check the gentle, uneasy electronics of ‘Gamelan’ or the atmospheric drones of ‘Pacific Dawn' for proof.
