Don’t turn out that light - there’s a killer on the loose. Reissue supremos Death Waltz set their sights on 1982’s Slumber Party Massacre, scored by Ralph Jones, and it’s a party all right. Off-key chords, searing modulations and dancing bass-lines, it’s a horror to behold but a thrill to enjoy. ‘Confrontation In The Gymnasium’ will set your pulse racing, while ‘Valerie Does Battle’ to the sound of a throbbing bass-line that goes up against waltz-like organs. The soundtrack is patently of its time, yet a wonder worth embracing in any age.
