Radio Slave and Boddika’s Nonplus Records were clearly meant to be. The three tracks on the Don’t Stop No Sleep EP are not a million miles away from the scratchy, foreboding sounds of fellow Nonplus recordees like Kassem Mosse, Joy Orbison, and Actress. The original version is stripped back to the bare essentials, built as it is on a repeated hi-hat and kick-drum motif, enhanced by stabbing chords that sound like a heart-monitor pulse. For the DJs, there’s a short a cappella loop and a mesmerising DJ tool in the ‘Nightmare Mix’.
