Throwing Snow has been a busy man over the past number of years, as label boss (A Future Without, left blank, Snowfall), DJ, collaborator (as Snow Ghosts with Augustus Snow) not to mention his own sterling productions. His debut album comes in the midst of such industry, a dense and layered effort on the ever-impressive Houndstooth label, which by now can certainly boast of being much more than just London night club Fabric's label. With a clutch of deftly chosen singers adding further depth to the d&b-laced dread that features throughout, it's an album charged with a range of emotions. From the searing drudge of 'Avarice' to the bells of 'Linguis', right on to the languidly ominous 'Draugr', the interplay between light and darkness is stark throughout. It's as expertly pieced together as its titular counterparts, and there's beauty to be found in every corner.
