One of Chicago legend Chez Damier’s signature tunes gets a necessary reissue, thanks to KMS Records. ‘I Never Knew Love’, the soulful house classic, is available here in a number of forms. There’s the ‘Made In Detroit Mix’, which features Damier’s vocal in full and all of the vintage piano stabs you could ask for, as well as the ‘Change Up Mix’, which is powered by rolling drums, deep sub bass and an alternate keyboard melody. Also featured are Marc Kinchen’s bassy ‘MK Club Mix’ and the Carl Craig-assisted ‘Help Myself’, an interesting synthesis of Damier’s melodies and Craig’s off-kilter rhythms.
