UK noisemaker Breach, given name Ben Westbeech, steps up and delivers a strong short player for Will Saul’s Aus Music. ‘Artis' finds him trying out some new sounds, including a starker, techno-infused house groove. The sweat-soaked title track aims for the neck, with wall-shaking sub bass, crisp rolling drums and animal sounds for atmosphere. ‘Ode Ishi’ goes for a loose, lost in thought vibe, opening with warm synths and kicks then building to an unlikely drop, and while the diced-up jazz keys and vintage drum work of ‘This Ones For You You Know Who You Are’ call to mind certain Detroit luminaries, the fuzzed-out breakdowns throughout are entirely Westbeech’s own.
