Emmy-award winning composer Benjamin Wynn conceptualises his fourth studio album around memory. Inspired by a box filled with private relics he found on a flea market, 1979 revolves around representations of the past. The release is accompanied by an online gallery which features user-submitted pictures, including contributions from Nigel Godrich, The Gaslamp Killer, How To Dress Well and more. Directly recorded to tape, the ambient soundscapes lose themselves in the nostalgic noise of their synth surfaces. Distant field recordings create a feeling of fading images, and wistful polyharmonies plate the album in a definite filter of melancholy.
