Italian instrumental rockers Andrea Bellentani and Simon Maccari aka The Diaphanoids, bring their spacey sonics to Tirk Records. Not unlike Malcolm Catto’s Heliocentrics project, the duo craft their heady soundscapes from meticulously recreated drum breaks, moody guitar riffs, vintage keyboards and an armada of psychedelic sound effects. Bellentani and Maccari are in their element on tracks like ‘How Can I Distinguish Sky from Earth…’ and ‘Our Own Private Elsewhere’, when they lock in and improvise freely over tightly coiled rhythms. They also tackle hypnotic, Kraut-grooves on the title track, slow burning trip-hop on ‘The Blackest Sun’ and psych-freakout on ‘These Nights Wear Three Heads...”
