Japanese label Mule Musiq has released some of the finest house music around over the last decade, and is probably most famous for releasing work by DJ Sprinkles, aka Terre Thaemlitz. With the Enjoy The Silence collections, however, it tasks famed DJs and producers with creating mood music to be appreciated away from the dance floor. This third entry is no less beautiful than its predecessors. The multi-faceted Roman Flugel takes arpeggiated bells and pits them against see-sawing synths; Lawrence’s ‘Panopticon’ belies its sinister title by creating a gloriously serene underwater vista. Romanian producer Petre Inspirescu contributes two tracks, one flighty and exciting, the other triumphant and celebratory. There’s much to take and enjoy here; this silence is most truly golden.
