Hot Soup is a re-release of eccentric and brilliant rapper Danny Brown's first album, originally released in 2008. Brown has gone on to become an unlikely breakout left-field hip hop star, but going back to this early release finds the Detroit born Brown as blistering and raw as he would be on his future instant classics. The album combines melancholic and harrowing slice of life narratives, with the decadent and wild party raps that we've come to expect from Danny Brown. Brown's patented unhinged voice isn't quite as crazed as it would go on to become, but Hot Soup shows that he was still a fiery and idiosyncratic talent right out the gate.
