Wendy Gondeln is the musical alias of Albert Oehlen, who was won considerable acclaim in the art world for his painting. Yet Oehlen is a genuine renaissance man as he is also mightily skilled when it comes to making very idiosyncratic techno. His latest release Fracking, released via Magazine, is a singular collection of playful and at often times loud and abrasive techno. For instance opener 'Fracking With Wolfgang' jauntily marches along to an askew rthym as screeching atonal violin plays underneath, while 'Bad To The Bow' features an aggressive industrial stomp highlighted with oddball vintage organ stabs. This is a dizzying and electrifying work.
